um, i'm not 100%, but it sounds like the name of a virus i had to sweep out of sombodies computer last year.

This is exactly what they do not only that but they managed to stop you bringing up AVG to check, and you can't get on the internet every time you try they say your infected more. There is NO installed programme so you can't delete it Shocked and pressing the red cross only causes more warning signs. But I managed to get rid of it by doing a system restore. Very Happy

Could try a full scan in safe mode.

I had to do some file checks for AVG and they said my laptop was clear off all infections and virus's

Ah but it doesn't check for spyware so well, if at all.
Give it a couple of scans with both Spybot Search & Destroy and Lavasoft Adaware.

I also use maladware and superantispyware. Both of these have free downloads and usage.

Malwarebytes Anti-malware is another option.

Malwarebytes is the best.
Just make sure after you have run the initial scna that you update it and scan again.

so far the only thing i've found that can remove this threat, but even at that i've had to reformat a few machines which were just too far gone.
